"More than Anything" and Other Things I've Been Up To...

Although I do receive a lot of questions about the business of acting (how to get started, where to find auditions, etc.) the most popular question I am asked is simply what I'm working on. I haven't had time to write any blog entries recently (as of this moment, my last day off was 9 days ago) but here's what I've been doing...
More than Anything
I just wrapped a UCF student film called More than Anything this past Sunday. The film centered around a couple (I played the girlfriend, Toni, and had a boyfriend named Eli) and how their views on love and relationships were shaped by their childhoods and parents' relationships. For example, my parents had an unhealthy marriage and eventually split up, whereas Eli's family endured a lot of difficult situations but made it through together. Our shoot lasted 4 days, about 12 hours each, and the whole cast and crew was really great.

Bad Connection The next film I'm working on is a Full Sail thesis film for students in the masters degree program. At this point I don't know how much of the plot can be published, but I get to play a hipster with bad taste in men and an overbearing older brother. I also get murdered so that's always fun.
Photoshoot with Dutton Photography
Last week I had the opportunity to shoot with Dutton Photography, based out of Tampa. As many of you know, I used this summer as an opportunity to try new things and I have really been trying to step out of my comfort zone, so this was a continuation of that. The shoot had a boudoir theme, which was definitely not something I'd ever even considered doing before, but it was a lot of fun and I was a lot more comfortable than I expected.

Taking Time Off
Between rehearsals, acting classes, and actually being on set, I haven't had a day off in almost a week and a half and I plan on taking full advantage of the days I have off at the end of this month. I've already filmed one movie this month (More than Anything) and have another scheduled for next week, so I plan on taking the last week or so of October to relax (although I'll still be working at night, so come visit me at A Petrified Forest!). I might still do a few one-day shoots as an extra or maybe doing another photoshoot, but expect the set selfies to slow down for a bit ;)
Preparing for Next Month's Film
The film I'm most excited for begins the rehearsal/read-through process next week and filming starts next month! Although I've been in several movies since I was cast in this one back in August, this was actually the first movie I ever auditioned for and got a role in! From what I've seen, the cast is seriously amazing; I had a chance to act with a few of them during callbacks and was absolutely blown away. I never understood how people could say it was a "humbling" experience when they achieved something (to me, that sounded like a reason to feel the opposite of humbled) until this moment. I'm not sure how I was given the opportunity to work with such talented people, but I am definitely grateful.
Hopefully that answers some of the questions you all have been sending me! I love hearing feedback about my blog, as well as just talking about this totally random but amazing journey I'm on. Please feel free to message me any time!
Until next time,
Emalie
